On Saturday and Sunday, February 17th and 18th, 2024, the Historical Society held a Winter Open House in the Asa Whiting House on Washington Street. Above, Beth Comstock and Cryso Lawless were greeting visitors on Saturday morning.
On display were treasures from its collection of period clothing, artifacts and displays depicting life in Holliston during the 18tt, 19th and 20th centuries.
Ben Clarkson, a society member, displayed his personal collection of lanterns used through the ages.
Above are two lanterns issued to soldiers during WW1, the “war to end all wars”.
Ben displayed this rare replica of the lantern displayed in the Old North Church to alert Paul Revere that “The British are coming.”
Nancy Lamb, above, co-chair of the Collections Committee, introduced the guest speaker.
Frank Chamberlain, above, a member of the Historical Society and noted reenactor, relives the incent known as the Boston Tea Party, as seen through the eyes of Dr. Thomas Young, who was a witness to the events leading up to and after this historic event.
The society offered items for sale during the open house.
