Holliston Police Department – April Monthly Update

PERSONNEL HIGHLIGHTS:

• On April 2, 2020, Chief Stone participated in a virtually facilitated discussion hosted by Roger Williams University School of Justice Studies Justice System Training and Research Institute on staffing issues relative to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• On April 2, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini picked up and assembled additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits for each patrol cruiser.
• On April 7, 2020, members of the police department participated in a weekly Zoom meeting with the Holliston Public Schools, Holliston Youth and Family Services, and the Holliston Fire Department.
• On April 8, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini worked with Dispatch Supervisor Richards to review and adjust dispatch priority calls. They also participated in a conference call with E-911 regarding contingency plans for shutting down the dispatch center if needed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• On April 9, 2020, Dispatcher Shawn Wilkins reached two (2) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.
• On April 10, 2020, Officer Bryan DiGiorgio reached fourteen (14) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.
• On April 14, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini participated in a virtual Zoom meeting with the Holliston Drug and Alcohol Awareness Coalition (HDAAC).
• On April 15, 2020, Officer Tim Heney reached thirty-five (35) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.
• On April 22, 2020, Officer Scott Downey reached twenty-four (24) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.
• On April 28, 2020, members of the police department participated in a weekly Zoom meeting with the Holliston Public Schools, Holliston Youth and Family Services, and the Holliston Fire Department.
• It should be noted that several planned training courses were cancelled or postponed during the month of April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS:

• NOTE: On March 13, 2020, Chief Stone administered a “Special Order” to all department personnel that limited close-proximity contacts with members of the public including many community interactions that typically occur each month.
• On April 17, 2020, several members of the Holliston Police Department participated in a “First Responder Tribute Train” with surrounding cities and towns to support the health care providers at Milford Regional Hospital.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Due to the uncertainty and unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic, all upcoming events have been postponed and/or cancelled. Once the “State of Emergency” order is lifted, the men and women of the Holliston Police Department will be rescheduling many of the missed events.
