Holliston Police Department – January Update

PERSONNEL HIGHLIGHTS:

During the month of January, all members of the police department attended six (6) hours of “Legal Update” training as required by the 2019-2020 Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) in-service training program.

During the month of January, all members of the police department participated in a “Low Light” range training event at the Hopkinton Sportsman Club.

On January 6, 2020, Student Officer Ryan Parent and Student Officer Alex Hulme began day one of training at the Plymouth Police Academy.

On January 7, 2020, Lieutenant Thompson, Lieutenant Leurini, and School Resource Officer Woods participated in an “Intruder Response” presentation for faculty members at the Placentino Elementary School.

On January 8, 2020, Officer John Loftus and Officer David Charette reached two (2) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.

On January 8, 2020, Lieutenant Thompson, Lieutenant Leurini, Sergeant Waugh, Officer Downey, School Resource Officer Digiorgio, and School Resource Officer Woods participated in an “Intruder Response” drill at the Holliston High School.

On January 13, 2020, Officer John Scanlon reached thirty-four (34) years of service with the Holliston Police Department

On January 17, 2020, Detective Ciara Maguire, Officer Felicia Filadelfo, and Officer Hannah Ciavarra attended a one-day training course entitled “Advancing and Supporting Women in Law Enforcement” at Regis College.

On January 22, 2020, Officer Charles Grace reached two (2) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.

On January 29, 2020, Lieutenant Chad Thompson reached nineteen (19) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.

On January 30, 2020, Chief Stone and Fire Chief Cassidy met with Town Administrator Jeff Ritter to discuss the public safety radio improvement project.

On January 31, 2020, Officer Filadelfo and Officer Grace (recent graduates of the Plymouth Police Academy) attended a full-day of “Applied Patrol Procedures” training at the Plymouth Police Academy. This training helps to facilitate the hands-on training that Student Officers Parent and Hulme are currently receiving at the Plymouth Police Academy.

During the month of January, Sergeant Hagan and K-9 Mattis completed their sixteen (16) hours of mandatory in-service training with the Boston Police K-9 Unit.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS:

On January 8, 2020, Chief Stone and Sergeant Belson presented a “Workplace Violence” program to employees at Rodenhiser Plumbing and Heating located on Hopping Brook Road.

On January 14, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini attended the “Holliston Drug and Alcohol Awareness Coalition” (HDAAC) monthly meeting to discuss the use of vaping in schools and other drug awareness initiatives.

On January 15, 2020, Chief Stone attended a “Traffic Advisory Committee” at the Holliston Town Hall.

On January 16, 2020, Sergeant Dalrymple held his monthly “Coffee with a Cop” event at the Holliston Senior Center.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

February 17, 2020 – Student Officer Parent and Student Officer Hulme begin week #7 at the Plymouth Police Academy.

February 20, 2020 – Monthly “Coffee with a Cop” event at the Holliston Senior Center with Sergeant Glenn Dalrymple.

March 2020 (Date to TBD) – “Pizza with the Police” event.

Spring 2020 (Date to TBD) – Children’s Hospital Blood Donation Event at HPD
