PERSONNEL HIGHLIGHTS:
- On March 2, 2020, Student Officers Parent and Hulme began week #9 at the Plymouth Police Academy.
- On March 2, 2020, Lieutenant Thompson began a review of the police department’s accreditation files.
- On March 2, 2020, Chief Stone and Lieutenant Thompson presented the police department’s FY21 budget to the Select Board.
- On March 5, 2020, Lieutenant Thompson attended an online “Sexual Assault Kit Training” webinar which was hosted by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS).
- On March 6, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini completed the “Cyber Security for Town Employees” course online.
- On March 9, 2020, Student Officers Parent and Hulme began week #10 at the Plymouth Police Academy.
- On March 10, 2020, Chief Stone met with Dr. David Schwarz from the Ashland Animal Hospital regarding “Nero’s Bill” which is an act providing for the care and transportation of police dogs injured in the line of duty.
- On March 16, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini submitted a $6,000 “Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety” grant application with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security – Office of Grants and Research (EOPSS-OGR) Office.
- On March 16, 2020, Student Officers Parent and Hulme began week #11 at the Plymouth Police Academy.
- On March 16-17th, 2020, Officers Downey and MacGray attended a two (2) day “Low Light Pistol Instructor” course at the Sig Sauer training center in New Hampshire.
- On March 17, 2020, Sergeant Glenn Dalrymple reached thirty-four (34) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.
- On March 20, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini administered a “police motorcycle practical” course for four department members who expressed interest in the Holliston Police Motorcycle Unit.
- On March 23, 2020, Student Officers Parent and Hulme began week #12 at the Plymouth Police Academy.
- On March 23, 2020, Lieutenant Thompson completed his review of the police department’s accreditation files.
- On March 24, 2020, Chief Stone, Lieutenant Thompson, Lieutenant Leurini, School Resource Officer DiGiorgio and School Resource Officer Woods participated in a video conference call with the Holliston Public Schools Administrative team from Central Office and each of the four public schools.
- On March 25, 2020, Lieutenant Thompson and Officer Griffith began the reorganization and audit of the department property and evidence room.
- On March 30, 2020, Student Officers Parent and Hulme began week #13 at the Plymouth Police Academy.
- During the month of March, Sergeant Hagan and K-9 Mattis completed their sixteen (16) hours of mandatory in-service training with the Boston Police K-9 Unit.
- During the month of March, approximately half of our officers attended three (3) hours of “Police Survival” training and three (3) hours of “Animal Cruelty and Investigations” training as required by the 2019-2020 Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) in-service training program. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the second half of March’s in-service dates had to be indefinitely postponed.
- During the month of March, all members of the police department reviewed Holliston Police Department Policy 1.08 Searches and Seizures, Policy 4.17 Harassment, Policy 1.04 Vehicle Pursuit, Policy 1.16 Handling the Mentally Ill, Policy 2.04 Criminal Intelligence, and Policy 4.41 Communicable Diseases and Employee Immunization through our new PM/AM policy management software.
- It should be noted that several planned training courses were cancelled or postponed during the month of March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS:
NOTE: On March 13, 2020, Chief Stone administered a “Special Order” to all department personnel that limited close-proximity contacts with members of the public including many community interactions that typically occur each month.
- On March 10, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini spoke with a Marshall Street resident regarding traffic safety and signage on her street.
- On March 11, 2020, Chief Stone attended a community advisory meeting at the Town Hall as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- On March 16, 2020, Chief Stone attended a meeting with local police chiefs to discuss mutual aid contingency plans as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Due to the uncertainty and unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic, all upcoming events have been postponed and/or cancelled. Once the “State of Emergency” order is lifted, the men and women of the Holliston Police Department will be rescheduling many of the missed events.
