Holliston Police Log Gems

I posted the log on HollistonReporter.com every week for 13 years, beginning in 2008. We can debate whether it was of any value to anyone, but it helped me stay on the straight and narrow at least while I was sitting in the police station reviewing the log and typing it for HR. What follows are a few of the entries from the log along with my comments in italics.

Should HPD consider Dress-Down Fridays?

May 25 – 31, 2015: Dylan’s Highway 61 has nothing over Washington Street.

August 26, 2015. Complaint, Pinecrest Golf Course; driver reports being hit by a golf ball while driving by (that’s odd. Usually, it’s the driver hitting the ball)

Police dogs in Argentina dress for battle and take no prisoners.

Second Annual Citizens Police Academy – Station Tour. “I love this job. I’d even do it for less money — but don’t tell anyone,” — Patrolman Jonathan Remkus Don’t worry, we won’t.

Sept 16, 2016. Crash, 1292 Washington; four-car pile-up in front of Quality Auto Body (there goes your weekend, Gary).

September 20, 2016: Animal incident, Grove; car versus cat. Scraper called.

Teach a child to be polite and courteous in the home and, when he grows up, he’ll never be able to merge his car onto route 495.

March 5, 2016. Suspicious activity, Lake Grove Cemetery; caller reports four men digging near a black vehicle (could we have a Dr. Frankenstein in our midst?).

May 5, 2016. Crash 725 Washington; one car hit two others in the parking lot (Opps. Sorry. Opps. Sorry).

Rare racing-striped possum spotted on Chamberlain Street.

May 6, 2016.  Animal incident, Prentice & Chamberlain; caller reported “some kind of animal” in the road. HPD determined it to be a possum.

June 29, 2016. Animal incident, Norfolk & Franklin; report of injured turkey (Outpost Farm notified – just kidding)

Whoever writes these is very good at it. I always enjoy the light humor that’s put into it. Bad stuff happens, but when you see the humor in some situations, that’s always appreciated. (Bless you, Jean)

BWTM:

The Framingham Gazette, August 13, 1873

The following verse can be found inscribed on the wall of our lockup:

Beneath the Town House we are thrown,

They have barred us in with iron and stone,

And here we lay with fright and fear,

Because we broke Jack Tyler’s chandelier

  1. Always loved your police log reports. Know they’re not PC but like them anyway. Too bad they’d be forbidden now.

    1. Assuming that posts do not directly attack a person by name, we would allow them to be posted.
