The American Legion Post 47 of Holliston, Massachusetts, is again honored to host the annual Holliston Public Safety 9-11 Awards ceremony. This significant event, held in memory of the 9-11 tragedy, is a testament to the bravery and dedication of our public safety team members. The ceremony will be held in Upper Town Hall on Sunday, September 8th, at 10:00 AM.
Those selected for the prestigious American Legion Medal of Merit were chosen based on the recommendations of Chiefs Michael Cassidy, Holliston Fire Department, and Chief Matthew Stone, Holliston Police Department. The selection process involves a thorough review of their service records and the impact of their actions on the community. The award recognizes their exceptional service over the past year through individual acts of courage and dedication to the citizens of Holliston and maintaining the highest level of service. The ceremony also serves as a reminder to our community of the dedicated public safety team members who are committed to our safety and security.
The American Legion, chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran’s organization, focuses on service to veterans, service members, and communities. Members of Post 47 deeply believe in the Legion’s commitment to our Holliston community. By hosting this year’s 9-11 Award ceremony and others, such as Veterans Day and Memorial Day, the Legion demonstrates its unwavering support and appreciation for our community. In addition, the Post has sponsored selected Holliston High School students to participate in the Massachusetts Boy State program and funded this year’s July 4th laser show.
