Washington, DC – January 2, 2020 – The American Association of School Administrators (AASA), the School Superintendent Association, announced today that Holliston Superintendent of Schools Bradford Jackson has been named the Massachusetts Superintendent of the Year for 2020. Jackson, a resident of Wilmington, MA, and a native of Cohasset, MA, is also currently serving as President of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (M.A.S.S.), while continuing to serve the students of Holliston as their full-time Superintendent. In announcing Jackson’s selection as Massachusetts Superintendent of the Year, AASA Executive Director Daniel A. Domenech recognized Brad as an outstanding educator “who personifies exemplary leadership on behalf of public education throughout his school district, his community and the state of Massachusetts.”
Massachusetts Senate President Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland) was the first to offer her congratulations. “Dr. Jackson is a consummate professional and his advocacy work for Holliston and districts throughout the Commonwealth cannot be overstated. He is an innovative problem solver willing to work with teachers, parents, and students alike. I am very proud—but not at all surprised–that Brad has received this well-deserved honor.”
According to AASA Executive Director Domenech, Dr. Jackson and all 50 State Superintendents of the Year will receive their awards at the National Conference on Education, held at the San Diego Convention Center in mid-February. “By assembling the 2020 State Superintendents of the Year, we will communicate to the country that one of the most important factors in improving our public educational system begins with school system leaders,” Domenech explained. In addition to receiving this award in front of an audience of Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents from across the country, Dr. Jackson and his guest will be invited to attend the National Superintendent of the Year Gala being held in early November 2020 in Washington, DC.
Bradford Jackson has served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Holliston Public Schools since July 2004. Previously he served as Assistant Superintendent in the Northborough-Southborough Public Schools, Director of Administration and Finance in Wilmington, and Business Administrator in the Hudson and Litchfield NH Public Schools. He received his doctorate in Educational Leadership from Boston College’s Lynch School of Education. A native of Cohasset, Dr. Jackson lives in Wilmington with his wife, Patricia, a Pediatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Their four adult children have all chosen careers in public service.
