Under a dreary sky, perhaps apropos on such an auspicious occasion, Holliston’s American Legion Post 47 conducted a modified 9/11 remembrance and presentation to Holliston’s first responders.
Post Commander Stephen Bradford worked with Town officials and public health and safety officials to plan an observance that continued the Post’s 11-year tradition and met COVID guidelines.

Commander Bradford began the observance with a moment of silence to reflect on those whose lives were ended and those whose lives were forever changed.

Chief Cassidy thanks Post 47 for its donation and shares the names of this year’s HFD members who went above and beyond during an early morning house fire – Captain John Gagnon, Lieutenant Michael Gulla, and Firefighter Daniel Lamme.

Lieutenant Leurini thanked Post 47 for the donation and acknowledged SGT Matt Waugh and Officer Charles Grace for their heroic efforts to rescue victims of the early morning house fire referenced by Chief Cassidy.
Lieutenant Thompson cited SGT John Remkus and Officer Hannah Ciavarra for their efforts during a motor vehicle stop that resulted in drug and firearms charges.
The Town Hall flag at half-staff calls us, as in Commander Bradford’s closing, to REMEMBER.
As summer approaches, Holliston Newcomers and Neighbors membership year comes to a close. But even with all the uncertainty swirling around us, HNN was still able to fulfill our civic, social, and community mission.
The Holliston Lions Club will be holding their annual cookout for Seniors and Veterans (normally held in June) at the Holliston Senior Center. All Seniors and Veterans in Holliston are welcome to attend. There is no charge for this event. It will be held on Sunday, September 19. Seating begins at 11:45 with food being served at 12:00.
