WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (December 1, 2025) – MassBay Community College will hold its biannual Student STEM Expo on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Wellesley Hills campus cafeteria, as well as virtually from Monday December 8 – Friday December 12, 2025. This event enables students in engineering, math, computer science, life sciences, and biotechnology programs to showcase their work to the MassBay community, local STEM professionals, and the general public.
At a time when businesses are seeking employees who possess skills in high-demand STEM fields, MassBay graduates have the education and training to fill these critically important positions. Several STEM industry professionals have hired MassBay students after attending a STEM Expo and interacting with students.
The student STEM Expo highlights MassBay students’ creativity and ingenuity through the projects they have completed during the fall semester. During the on-campus event, visitors can chat with the presenters and see their projects on display. Online visitors can watch prerecorded videos from individual students and student teams to learn about the research and processes that went into the creation of their work. The virtual platform allows viewers to leave comments and ask questions from anywhere in the world. During the week-long virtual event, students will answer these incoming inquiries and engage in conversations with visitors about their projects. Some examples of the projects that will be on display and available to watch by video include biology and engineering design students working collaboratively on a biomimicry inspired design of a water collection system, a design of an automated Lazy Susan to assist with 3D scanning, and biology research that will be turned into a book on mine (explosives) detection.
Business and industry professionals, community organizations, local high school students, teachers, and education administrators are all encouraged to attend this year’s fall STEM Expo in person or virtually. Industry professionals and community members interested in joining a pre-expo networking event starting prior to the Expo beginning at 12:30p.m., please register here: https://forms.gle/oy2uTeHJkynrEkar7
