The Town’s oldest veteran, 96-year-old Charlie Nickerson has been selected this year’s Memorial Day Parade Marshal by the Town’s Memorial Day Committee.
This year’s parade will take place on Monday, May 31st.
Nickerson, a Highland Street resident is no stranger to several generations of Hollistonians having owned and operated the Out Post Farm for many years. Nickerson was earlier this year inducted as the Town’s oldest veteran after the passing of Vasco Brovelli. Nickerson’s name appears on a plaque inside Town Hall.
Charlie is the holder of two Silver Stars and a Russian medal for valor and was a member of the fabled 82nd Airborne Division. Jumping into France as part of D-Day, Charlie would take part in the Battle of the Bulge before finishing out his duty in Berlin.
Additional Memorial Day plans will be forthcoming.

This is unbelievable. A man who has worked so hard to raise a family, and still farms to this day, to become a local celebrity.
Such a great day.
Charlie, Thank you for your service! Your decorated military career is one to be honored and celebrated!
