The town’s deceased veterans were all thought of during the past several days. On Wednesday American Legion Commander Steve Bradford and Legion Adjuant Walter McGrath decorated the towns veterans squares along with the seven outlying cemeteries.
Thursday evening brought a slew of scouts to help place flags at the town’s larger cemeteries, St. Mary’s and Lake Grove. In all, over 1,600 flags were placed.
As is custom, the retired flags were burned in a short ceremony. Iraq war veteran Peter Hill light the torn and faded pile of stars and stripes as firefighters Mark Dellicker & John Gagnon looked on to prevent any embers from creating a brush fire.
Residents may bring old flags to the designated boxes at town hall, post office, or the senior center.
Well done mark and John. I miss my beautiful town. Holliston is the best!
Bobby you do so much for the veterans and this town I dont think there is a way to thank you all. I just wish I could be there with you!!!!!!
Thank you! Means a lot.
There should be an official day each year to honor Bobby Blair for all that he does and has done in past years for the town of Holliston.
