Shirley M. Chipman at 83

Shirley M. Chipman, 83, of Holliston, passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side on Monday, June 6, 2022. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Catherine (Demers) and Edwin D. Hamlet. She was the wife of 41 years to the late Thomas H. Chipman, who passed away in 2002.

A lifelong Holliston resident, Shirley loved her town and being part of the community. For 20 years she worked as a school bus driver for Holliston, Ashland, and Framingham public schools, was a member of the Holliston Historical Society and was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Parish.

She was an avid genealogist – a hobby that led to the trip of a lifetime to England in 2019. She took pleasure in writing, especially poetry, and was the authoress of a book titled, From Gotham to Gooseville 1888-1917: Kate Sanborn Authoress, Lecturer, Farmer. She enjoyed music and loved playing guitar.

Shirley is survived by three daughters, Renee M. Sistrand and her husband, David of Medway, Michelle A. Chipman and her fiance, Ron Amoling of Gardner, Catherine M. Paraskoulakis of Madison, NH and one son, Thomas J. Chipman and his wife, Ann of Holliston. She also leaves behind her brother, Edwin Hamlet of Ohio; 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Darrel Hamlet.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12th from 2:00-5:00 at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 13th at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery, Holliston.
