Tamisha Civil Officially on the Ballot for Governor’s Council District 2

She is the first Democrat in the race to gather the required signatures

Tamisha Civil, a community advocate, 10-year public servant, and Democratic candidate for Governor’s Council, officially gathered enough certified signatures to appear on the Democratic primary ballot. The Secretary of State’s office confirmed the valid signatures this week.

“I’m honored that so many of my neighbors have come together to support me in this campaign,” Tamisha said. “This is proof we have real momentum. I’m running to be an outspoken voice for everyone in this district, especially those who feel unheard by our criminal justice system. If elected, I will use my vast experience in the courts and in the community to be a voice for change on the Governor’s Council.”

Tamisha’s career began as a response to her cousin’s false imprisonment, which motivated her to fix the deep inequalities in our justice system. She graduated from Northeastern University with a master’s degree in criminal justice and leadership, then got involved working in and around the court system. As an associate probation officer, she has gained valuable experience serving alongside judges, defense attorneys, clerks, assistant DA’s, and police officers. She now works to reduce recidivism, help victims navigate our court system, and address the root causes of crime in her community.
