The Laronga Brothers: Honoring a Legacy of Community Spirit in Holliston

Dick and Tom Laronga, brothers hailing from the quintessential American setting of Arch Street in Holliston, Massachusetts, epitomize the small-town charm and community spirit that Holliston embodies. Their familial ties intertwined with the fabric of the town as their father, Antonio (Tony), and uncle, Victor (Vic), operated the local barbershop, serving as a hub of social interaction and camaraderie.

In an era marked by simplicity and close-knit neighborhoods, Dick graduated from Holliston High School in 1951, a class boasting a mere 32 students. Tom followed suit in 1953, among a class of 38, where everyone was not just a face in the crowd but a valued member of the community.

  1. “Congratulations “ to Tom. He sure is one of the best. He is the same man now that he was back in the 50’s. Loved by all. Always doing nice things for others, always very cheerful, fun to be his company. Our class was like family then and to this day.

  3. Wonderful story of my 2 older brothers and a great reminder of simpler and happy days growing up in Holliston.

  4. Beautifully done! Thank you. I hope others will contribute their stories. The history 300 book is about to go into production… next is the website.

  5. my niece Toni submitted this article. However there are many stories of brothers playing on the same high school teams. In high school in my class we had Don Elliott and his brother Bob (class of 1950) charlie Kurzontkowski and his brother Fred (class of 1951) Many others of the past. My memory of course goes way back. 1930 s Bill HOney and his brother Steve. Ed and Andy Kurzontkowski which makes 4 Kurzontkowski brothers playing Holliston baseball. then of course Holliston Legion Aces had Pat Higgins and his brother Jim and Romy Scanlon and his brother Tom and also Charlie McGuire and his brother Bill. Of course there were the Kampersal brothers that 4 of them had there own basketball team. Lots of good stories could be told but hardly anyone left to tell them. I am sure that since I graduated there were and are many other brothers that have played for good old Holliston High School

    1. Lots of names from the past. Good ball players and great friends and neighbors. There were many awesome athletes way back then and you were one of them Tom!!! Really nice article of those good ol’ days!

    2. John and I went to the induction ceremony tonight and Tom Laronga, you were a real star! It was so good to see you. Such a well deserved honor Tom. 👏❤️
