Through My Eyes: Sounds of the Americas

Through My Eyes: Sounds of the Americas – Natick, MA — Mezzo-soprano Fanny Lora invites the community to experience Through My Eyes: Sounds of the Americas at the Morse Institute Library in Natick on Friday, September 12 at 3pm. This program is supported by the Natick Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

An award-winning project, Through My Eyes was also supported and presented at Berklee College of Music. The program brings to light the rich classical repertoire of women composers from Colombia, Argentina, and Cuba, alongside a poignant song cycle by Boston-based composer Omar Najmi, featuring texts by Dominican-American poet Alondra Bobadilla

Ms. Lora will be joined by the acclaimed pianist Alexandra Lutkevich, whose artistry has been central to bringing this music to life.

With only two performances remaining before the close of this tour, the Natick community has a rare opportunity to experience this unique and heartfelt program. The event is free and open to the public, and all are encouraged to bring friends and family.

Praise for Through My Eyes

Through My Eyes” was a stunning introduction to the work of several Latin American composers who I am now eager to get to know more about. The music ranged from contemplative to macabre to get-up-and-dance fun, and EVERY moment of music was imbued with a fully physicalized performance from Fanny. Drawing, I can only assume, from her Alexander work, some of the songs were expressed through abstract body motion that reflected the mood and the music, and some of the songs were staged like mini opera scenas…” — Omar Najmi, performer/composer
