Almost 5 years ago, we learned that Holliston’s dedicated news outlet, the Holliston Reporter, would soon, like so many other news sources nationwide, exit the community. We chose to step up and continue the Reporter as a retirement project. As recent transfers to Massachusetts at that time, we hoped to gain (rather selfishly) an understanding of the town’s workings and its residents. Through our acquisition of the Reporter and during the 4+ years of our production run, we have obtained the knowledge we sought and made a small but—we hope—meaningful contribution to the community.
Today, we announce our retirement as publishers of the Holliston Reporter no later than August 31, 2023. We are hopeful that successors will emerge, and we invite all interested editors/publishers to contact us. Keep in mind that both of us were inexperienced in all aspects of producing news for a community. We offer our assistance in the transition process. (Email pubs.holliston.reporter@gmail.com for details.)
Publication of the Reporter paved a path for us to meet many wonderful people who live, work, and volunteer here. The donation of our time to this news blog has benefitted us more than readers can imagine. Our tenure encompasses events both joyful and challenging, but throughout we have been bolstered by the goodness and potential of Holliston.
We will share more details as they become known to us.
With heartfelt thanks to our town wide collaborators, our readers and writers, and especially to our advertisers, all of whom have made our tenure possible.

Thank you. I know this is a bittersweet moment for you. I experienced that when I retired from HollistonNetNews.com but there is life after online news reporting! There are a few people who have voiced interest in some kind of news network, perhaps in conjunction with HCAT, so perhaps HR will evolve. You and your predecessors at the Reporter have done a great service. I believe that the loss of local media accounts for much of the disarray in politics everywhere. You did your part for Holliston, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks for stepping up. The pleasure was all ours.
Wait,are you moving to Florida?
You’ve provided a much needed service to Holliston. Thanks to you for your excellent reporting. I hope there are some other dedicated citizens who will step into your shoes.
So sorry to learn you are leaving Holliston Reporter, thank you for all your time and work. Holliston needs an independent online news report, it provides the only voice in Holliston for different opinions. Hope you can find someone to succeed you and build upon the solid reputation of the Holliston Reporter. It is important that the Reporter remains independent of HCAT where the topics and voices heard are dependent upon the program producers.
Thank you for all your hard work on behalf of Holliston!
Thank you, Yvette and Chris, for your dedication to Holliston! We will be sorry to see you go. As mentioned by someone else, hopefully HR will evolve.
Thank you both for your hard work and dedication!
As Jimmy Olsen, cub reporter for the Daily Planet often said, “Thanks Chief(s). We all thank you Chiefs)
Thanks for a very distinctive run.
Best wishes.
