William P. Curboy, Jr. at 74

Southbridge: William P. Curboy, Jr., 74, of Dresser St., passed away at home on Thursday, Dec. 2nd, surrounded by his loving family.   

He leaves his beloved Life Partner of 38 years, Ann F. Costello; his son William P. Curboy III (Allison) of Blackstone, daughter Susan R. Curboy of Whitinsville, daughter in law Kellie Curboy of Fort Myers, FL.; Erik Costello (Jennifer) of Medway; Lauren Costello (Jeffrey) of Holliston and Lindsey Costello (Alex) of Sturbridge; his brother, Stewart J. Curboy (Michelle) of Holland; his two sisters, Imelda Lundstrom (Gordon) of Southbridge and Deborah Cote (Rene) of Warren; five grandchildren, Ashley Curboy, Brian Curboy (Erica), Kyle Curboy, Allison Curboy and Haley Costello; five great grandchildren, Avery and Abel Curboy, Lillie Kaske, McKenzie Curboy, Christopher and Kelliann Davis.  

He was predeceased by a son, Christopher R. Curboy in January 2021; two brothers, John M. Curboy and Martin R. Curboy.

Bill was born in Southbridge the son of the late William P. and Marguerite L. (Chabot) Curboy, Sr.  He worked as an English teacher in the town of Holliston for 34 years prior to retiring.  Bill earned a bachelor and master’s degree in education from the University of West Alabama in Livingston Alabama.   While at UWA Bill played football and was the Treasurer of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.  In addition to teaching in Holliston, Bill was very involved in various school activities for many years; coaching sports (football, basketball, tennis), National Honor Society, senior class advisor, and running the radio station.  Bill chaperoned many kids on the yearly class trips to Europe.  Additionally, Bill sponsored and coached on the Metro West Special Olympics team for 12 years and was awarded coach of the year in 2002.  Bill also coached for 2 years for the College of Pharmacy basketball team. 

Bill impacted the lives of many kids over the years and valued friendships with his fellow colleagues.  Above all he loved his family and friends, cherished Ann, and was proud of his kids.  Bill was most appreciative of his transplant donor and family whose gift gave him 11 more years with his own family.    

Calling hours for William will be held on Friday, Dec. 10th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St. Southbridge. 

Funeral Services and burial will be private and held at a later date.
