Links to Survey & Guide Propose Sites to Comply with MBTA 3A Housing Law
HOLLISTON, Mass. August 5, 2024 – The Town of Holliston is required to achieve a minimum housing objective to satisfy the requirements of 3A compliance as an MBTA Adjacent Community with 5,562 existing housing units per the 2020 Census. The new district’s weighted average must be greater than 15 units per acre (DU/AC).
The Town of Holliston’s MBTA Zoning Working Group, along with consultant JM Goldson LLC, evaluated and identified areas in Holliston suitable for the required multifamily zoning district. The MBTA Zoning Working Group narrowed the proposed multi-family zoning areas to the three areas shown on page 2, based on location, size, environmental factors, and public feedback from two public forums.
Districts 2 and 3 can meet the MBTA 3A requirements individually, while District 1 must be paired with at least a portion of one other district to meet the necessary acreage and minimum unit capacity requirements. (See the diagrams below).
The Town is requesting feedback on the three preferred district options from all stakeholders, including residents and businesses, by taking the online survey which can be found on the Town of Holliston website by CLICKING HERE.
