Alice Elizabeth Baker, 91, of Holliston, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Beatrice (Howden) and Ronald Dinn. She was the wife of 59 years to the late Walter E. Baker who passed in 2018.
Alice dedicated over 49 years of her life to the Boy Scouts of America, serving in both the Algonquin and Knox Trail councils. Her unwavering commitment to scouting included roles as a council leader in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, as well as serving as a commissioner for the Holliston Scouts. Her exceptional service was recognized with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, a council-level distinguished service honor. In addition to her contributions to scouting, Alice also worked as a telephone operator. Her impact on Holliston was acknowledged when she was named Holliston Citizen of the Year in 1995.
Alice is survived by her son, Kenneth E. Baker, and his wife, Tricia of Medway, and her daughter, Susan Jean Baker, and her fiance, Joe Simone, of Bellingham. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Brianna Baker, Sydney Baker, and her fiance, Josh Sweeney, Kendall Baker, and Kaitlin Baker. She is predeceased by her son, James K. Baker; and her siblings, Ronald J. Dinn and Carol Stickney.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22nd from 4-7 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 23rd at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston.
