I’ve often written in these newsletters about the importance of appreciating first responders, health care workers, public safety officials, and the many state and local agencies coordinating our COVID-19 response. Today, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the tireless work of front-line workers who often operate in the background: our local boards of health and their staff.

Families across Massachusetts have been hit hard personally and economically by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. One area where our Commonwealth has worked hard to ensure that families are protected is in housing.

As we enter Phase 3 of reopening, state officials are working to ensure that our infrastructure and the resources needed by workers returning to work are accessible and safe.

One of the most pressing questions that many families are facing as we prepare for our “new normal” is what education will look like in the fall.

Today, July 13th, the City of Boston has joined the rest of the state in entering our Phase 3 of reopening, which includes updated guidance on gatherings, expanded operation of some indoor-oriented businesses, and adjustments to outdoor recreational activity safety standards.
