Civics Sunday: Meet the Candidate; Richard Morse

Holliston Reporter

Holliston has many things that add to our quality of life.  The Rail Trail, Library, conservation land with its walking trails, Senior Center and Parks and Recreation Department all make Holliston a special place.

I am running for a position on the Park Commission.   I have lived in Holliston all my life.  I was a coach and high school math teacher for over 30 years.  During the summers, I worked as a camp counselor.  In fact, I was a counselor at Camp Patoma in the 1960’s, when it was a private day camp.

Upon retiring from teaching, I worked in sales, service and training for a cleaning supply company.  I am a volunteer at ātac (Amazing Things Arts Center) in Framingham, a member of the Holliston Historical Society and the Conservation Associates.  I served for two terms on the Holliston Cultural Council until I had to step down because of term limits.  On the Council, I worked with a group of talented residents to grant state allocated funds for projects in the arts, humanities and sciences and follow up on the projects until their completion.

If elected to the Park Commission, I pledge to seek input from residents and to work within a reasonable budget to ensure that the facilities continue to be well maintained and that meaningful programs are offered to meet the needs of the residents of Holliston.

I ask for your vote in the May election.

Richard Morse, Candidate for Park Commission, 606 Gorwin Drive
