Mary Greendale is an impressive woman with a large resume chock-full of experience in town government. Her passion for government can be tied to her fierce independence and determination to make change. It was a pleasure to speak with Mrs. Greendale and get to know more about her and her career!
Mrs. Greendale has served on the Select Board in town and is currently running for her third term with the Board of Assessors. She has served on numerous town committees, including one to repair the Town Hall and another on the 8 Arch Bridge project. From her experience working in town politics, she learned that persistence is the best way to accomplish her goals, even when it felt like she wasn’t getting anywhere. According to Mary Greendale, the best way to get things done in government is to advocate from the outside. Community involvement is essential for getting what you want accomplished.
Mrs. Greendale encourages everyone to get out and get involved. Coming to Town Meetings as well as speaking face-to-face was what the expert herself said was the best way to get through to your town officials. Mary Greendale works for the betterment of our town community every day because it is something that she is passionate about. Mary Greendale takes pride in her community and wants us to put our best foot forward. She fought to get the Town Hall renovated to re-instill a sense of pride in our town.
When asked about her experiences with gender discrimination in the workplace, Mrs. Greendale had some great advice: there will always be someone who is questioning you. As long as you are independent and have a strong sense of what you are passionate about, there is nothing anyone can do to take that away from you. As someone who has explored many passions throughout her career, Mrs. Greendale said that when faced with injustice, she kept fighting and working, following her passions. “You’re only stuck if you say you’re stuck”
Mrs. Greendale is someone with a great amount of experience, not only in local government but in life as well. Her efforts to improve Holliston have not gone unnoticed and she still spends her time involved in our Holliston Community. She is currently working on the book of Holliston for our 300th anniversary and is still working to uncover new and interesting parts of Holliston’s history. We have loved getting to know her and believe that all her hard work has paid off!
