George Joseph Sims at 93

George Joseph Sims, 93, of Holliston, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham. Born in Brookline, he was the son of the late Margaret (Lynch) and James Sims. He was the husband of Barbara (Warren) Sims and the late Mary Sims.

George was an avid golfer, always trying to play seven days a week. In addition to golf, he enjoyed bowling and baseball; even having tried out for the Red Sox. George was the president of the union at Wellesley College and was also the business manager there as well.

Besides his wife, George is survived by six children, Mary Ingleby of Millbury, George D. Sims and his wife, Margaret of Upton, Leesa McCance and her husband, Phil of Leominster, Sue Percy and her husband, Peter of Plymouth, Michael Sims and his wife, Lisa of Charlton, John Sims of Texas and his daughter-in-law, Jeanne of Florida. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; three siblings-in-law, Nancy Tozer of Worcester, Robert Warren and his wife, Mary of South Carolina, and James Warren and his wife, Debra of Westborough; as well as many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Buddy.  He is predeceased by his son, James Sims and his brother, Edward Lynch

Funeral services are being held privately and are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baypath Humane Society at baypathhumane.org or 500 Legacy Farms N, Hopkinton, MA 01748

  1. Barbara and family. I am so sad to hear this news. George was such a ray of sunshine every time I saw him. He so loved his boy Buddy despite Buddy’s relentless energy matched only by George’s zest for life. I send you and your family thoughts of peace and happy memories.
