I am pleased to announce that the Holliston Police Department received its reaccreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission at an award ceremony on October 4, 2023.
Accreditation is a self-initiated evaluation process by which police departments strive to meet and maintain standards that have been established for the profession, by the profession. These carefully selected standards reflect critical areas of police management, operations, and technical support activities. The standards cover policy development, emergency response planning, training, communications, property and evidence handling, use of force, vehicular pursuit, prisoner transportation, and holding facilities. The program not only sets standards for the law enforcement profession, but also for the delivery of police services to citizens of the Commonwealth.
The men and women of our police department are proud that the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission has once again recognized our agency for reaccreditation. The Holliston Police Department received its initial accreditation in 2017 and is now celebrating its second reaccreditation award from the Commission. I want to commend all members of our agency, and specifically our Accreditation Manager, Lieutenant Chad Thompson, who has been the driving force behind our success in the accreditation process. Our entire staff is committed to excellence, and I’m proud to work beside such dedicated individuals.
To renew its accreditation status, our agency must focus on maintaining the highest standards for professionalism, officer accountability, and develop policies consistent with best practices and police reform, which are critical to providing quality service to the community and ensuring the best possible outcomes.
Achieving Accreditation is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence and ensures that we are operating at the gold standard.
