I am a Holliston resident fortunate enough to be walking in the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund 5K Walk (https://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/site/TR?fr_id=2150&pg=entry) presented by Hyundai, this Sunday, October 6, 2024. My wife, Christina McKee, will be joining me along with my parents, Bob and Mauri McKee, and 2 of my 3 sisters Stacey Coggins and Joanna Dixon. My 3rd sister, Shauna Scharf, will be cheering us on from Philly. Together, we make up The Underdogs.
The short version of my story is that 13 months ago I learned that I had a very rare but (sometimes) treatable version of brain cancer called Primary CNS Lymphoma. At the time, all I knew was that I was often fatigued and was trying to figure out why I had low sodium. My ensuing leap of faith brain surgery at Mass General Brigham was the first step in battling this scary disease followed by many rounds of chemo and an auto stem cell transplant, led by incredible care teams at Dana Farber Cancer Institute (“DFCI”).
As of today, I am back at work and incredibly grateful to be more engaging with my family again.
I am asking for help in spreading my story for the impact it might have to give others hope. I would be remiss if I did not share that I welcome any donations from anyone who might be kind enough to make one to my personal fund-raising page (https://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/site/TR?fr_id=2150&pg=personal&px=2576596&s) where I am 80% of the way to my lofty goal of $10,000 raised for DFCI so I can earn the esteemed Top Pacesetter status.
