Holliston School Committee Office Hours- September 7th  9:00am at Coffee Haven

The Holliston School Committee is holding one more office hour opportunity prior to the upcoming special election.  Please join us Saturday, September 7th from 9-10am at Coffee Haven.  We understand that the community has questions  regarding the school budget, upcoming special election on September 10th, and the negotiated contract.  We look forward to answering your questions and hearing your concerns.

For more information about the special election, please visit the district’s website: https://www.holliston.k12.ma.us/special-election-override

How will the Override be used?

This override covers teacher salaries as agreed upon in the 2024-2027 contract. It also covers the future cost of additional buses that will be required to reduce the bus runs from 3 to 2 that is required by the increased student day for added instructional time. This will also require an adjustment to start times with all schools starting later than Miller and earlier than Placentino do now.  A breakdown of the proposed budget increases for the next 3 years, using the funding from the 2024 Override, is as follows:

While FY26 and FY27 currently show a deficit, based on an assumption used by the Town Administrator for future HPS funding, the HSC has committed to NOT seeking an additional override for at least the length of this contract and hopefully longer.  We are comfortable with the budget projections and believe that, barring any unforeseen significant costs (such as an additional State allowed increase to Special Education Costs or reduction in State or Federal aid), we will be able to balance our budget without any cuts to programming
