Holliston Veterans Remembered – A Driving Discovery Tour – Sunday, November 17, 2024

Saint Mary’s Knights of Columbus hosted this event to raise awareness of the memorial squares dedicated to 18 Holliston veterans of World War I, II and Viet Nam and the monument at Blair Square dedicated to the veterans of the Afghanistan/ Iraq wars. Participants were sent out on five different routes to locate and identify the veterans whose names appear on the plaques and whose pictures they were given at the starting line. Trivia questions about the veterans’ service, miles covered during the tour and identification of the veterans counted towards the award of three trophies

At the closing ceremony, speeches were given (r to l) by David DeGanne, Commander of the Holliston’s VFW, Martin Spellacy, Commander of the Holliston’s American Legion, Tom Bedar of Thanks to Yanks, and Herb Brockert, Holliston veteran.

The event raised over $3,300 for Thanks to Yanks, a nonprofit organization staffed entirely by volunteers, dedicated to helping veterans and their families from the area.
