Marybeth Harmon

Marybeth Harmon, 82, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Mary (McGuire) and Edmund Burke. She was the beloved wife of 36 years to the late William Harmon.

Marybeth was very devoted to her family, friends and to her Catholic faith. Marybeth cherished her time with family and friends. Family memories are filled with Cape Cod vacations and many happy times together at Smuggler’s Notch in Vermont. As her children grew older, Marybeth returned to her Alma Mater, Emmanuel College and earned a master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling. From there she embarked on a mission of providing spiritual care and counseling in roles as Chaplain and Spiritual Director at Franciscan Children’s Hospital and Norwood Hospital. She facilitated the Young Widow and Widower’s Group and also provided guidance and direction to many women as a Spiritual Director. Marybeth was an active member of The Wings Group in Holliston. She served as Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Church in Holliston as well as St. Joseph’s Church in Medway and was an active volunteer at The Society of St. Vincent DePaul. She was an avid reader and loved to travel the world. Some of her favorite trips included Rome, Hawaii and The Holy Land. Marybeth had a special part of her heart reserved for her “Grands”. She loved and is loved dearly by her 13 grandchildren and her legacy of love of life will live on through them.

Marybeth was a most recent resident of The Willows in Medway where she developed many cherished friendships with fellow residents and staff as well.

Marybeth is survived by her children, William Harmon Jr., and his wife Karen of Pembroke, MA, Sean Harmon, and his wife Victoria of South Kingston, RI, Mary Kate Damigella, and her husband Scott of Holliston, Chris Harmon of New Bern, NC, and Elizabeth Empey, and her husband Chad of Hopedale, MA. She also leaves behind her 13 grandchildren, Alan Flynn, Will Harmon, Callahan Harmon, Molly Harmon, Meaghan Harmon, Caroline Harmon, Hannah Damigella, Caitlin Damigella, Grace Ryan, Sean Ryan, Issac Ryan, Liam Empey, and Burke Empey. Marybeth is also survived by her brother Dr. Robert Burke, and his wife Kate of North Palm Beach, Fl, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Attendees are encouraged to wear shades of purple or pink as those were Marybeth’s favorite colors.
