Mums the Word

Holliston Reporter

On Friday, September 11th the American Legion Downtown Marigold Project began the deployment and planting of three hundred and fifty mums around town. The weeding and cutting of the expended lily stalks will make room for the colorful mums.

Places receiving the makeover from marigolds to mums are: Gooch’s Corner, Blair Square, Town Hall, Central Burial Ground, Congregational Church, corner of Hollis and Washington Streets, and the whiskey barrels in the town center. In addition, the Marigold Project will be planting one thousand red and white daffodils around town in late September for spring 2021 blooming.

This year marks the 14th year of operation of the Marigold Project, while its parent organization–the Charles F. Duford Post 47–celebrates its 100th anniversary
