From John Shannahan
If you found yourself traveling through Braggville last Saturday afternoon, you may have discovered yourself participating in a birthday tribute to the matriarch of one of Holliston’s most influential families.
It was then that more than 25 decorated cars and trucks, overflowing with friends and relatives, rolled past the home and happy face of the 90 years young birthday girl, Fran Kampersal.
Born in 1932 in White Plains, New York, Fran married Ernest Kampersal of South Street in 1954, and for 65 years they oversaw the comings and goings of their children, nieces and nephews, family and neighbors, and hundreds of ballplayers from their perch opposite Kampersal Field. Ernie passed in 2014.
Fran was totally delighted with the turnout. “It was a very happy moment, not just for me but for everyone who participated,” said Fran. “To see everybody blowing horns and smiling was wonderful.”

Happy Birthday, dear Fran! Sorry I missed that parade.
Happy 90th!! Wishing you health & much more happiness! I played a lot of softball games on that field with & against a few of the Kampersal athletes! A great family! A great legacy in the town of Holliston! Great article, John!
