Prior to widespread literacy, town criers were the means of communication with the people of the town since many people could not read or write. Proclamations, local bylaws, market days, adverts, were all proclaimed by a bellman or crier.

During this reporting period 89% of the calls HFD handled were for medical emergencies – very apropos as it’s EMS Appreciation Week. Thank you Holliston’s EMS personnel!
After conducting some review and approval for a site plan on Jeffery Street, the Planning Board reopened the Public Hearing for the 555 Hopping Brook project at 7:00pm.
The weekly Select Board (SB) meeting for May 17, 2021 was called to order by Chair, John Cronin.
This morning, the statewide COVID-19 Command Center announced updates relative to the Commonwealth’s vaccine distribution and reopening timeline. We are currently on track to have over 4 million residents fully vaccinated by the end of May and our public health metrics for COVID-19 cases and hospitalization have decline precipitously over the past few weeks. This has allowed our public health officials to make the determination to accelerate elements of the state’s reopening timeline and other public health guidance.
Becca Malcolm, daughter of Alison and Sean Malcolm of Holliston, graduated with a BA in Computer Science with a major in Game Design from Northeastern University on Saturday, May 8th.
