Parks Commissioner: Nicole Downin

My name is Nicole Downin, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Park Commissioner in Holliston. For the past 13 years, my family and I—my husband Andy, our son Charlie, our daughter Lucy, and our dog Hayward—have loved everything Holliston’s Parks and Recreation programs have to offer.

As a two-time Athletics Olympian, I have always been passionate about outdoor recreation, sports, and encouraging active lifestyles. For the past ten years, I’ve had the privilege of coaching youth sports in Holliston, including basketball, soccer, and cross-country. Currently, I’m the head boys track and field coach at Holliston High School.

I am running for Park Commissioner because I believe in the importance of strong, vibrant recreational spaces that benefit our entire community. Parks and recreation not only promote wellness but also bring people together, strengthening the fabric of our town. I am eager to bring my experience, leadership, and enthusiasm to this role and work with residents to enhance our programs and facilities.

If elected, my priorities will include:

● Improving the cleanliness of parks and recreational areas

● Adding more trash receptacles and recycling bins

● Establishing regular volunteer clean-up days

● Expanding age-diverse programming, including yoga for all ages and additional pickleball classes

● Continuing to enhance beloved local programs, such as Lake Winthrop activities, Concerts in the Park, and our exceptional summer camps

● Continue exploring ideas to expand the summer camps, explore ways of getting kids off the waitlist and offering more CIT opportunities.

I look forward to connecting with community members, hearing your ideas, and working together to make Holliston’s parks the best they can be.

Thank you,

Nicole Downin
