Paul Kevin King, of Mount Vernon, Maine, (previously from Holliston, Mass) passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, July 31st. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, partner, and son. Born to Kathleen A. (Sullivan) and Charles B. King on November 9, 1949, Paul was a beacon of strength to his siblings – Joe, Tim, Tom, Maureen, Bonnie, Kathleen, Sharon, and Mike. In the King family, strength included not just bravery and resilience, but also the ability to withstand Paul’s relentless brotherly teasing. His siblings can vouch that growing up with Paul was an adventure of its own.
A man of uncommon bravery and loyalty, Paul answered the call of duty as a young man, enlisting as a Marine during the tumultuous era of the Vietnam War. From 1967 to 1971, Paul’s unwavering dedication to his country was evident. As a helicopter Crew Chief in the elite HMM-364 Purple Foxes, he showed a blend of bravery and courage that would mark his service years. Decorated with numerous awards, including an Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Vietnamese Service Medal with 2 Stars, and saving countless lives, Paul’s service is a testament to his courage. He concluded his service with an honorable discharge.
After his military service, Paul embarked on a fruitful career with the Boston Edison Company. His sharp intellect and enduring work ethic served him well, and he left a significant impact in his role.
Paul leaves behind his two beautiful daughters, Jessica Veiga, and Carlie Palmerino, who carry with them his strong spirit, fierce intellect, and love for the outdoors. He also leaves behind 4 beautiful granddaughters – Sophia, Lorelei, Monroe, and London, whom he deeply loved.
As a lover of the great outdoors, Paul found peace and joy in his 14-acre property in Mount Vernon, where he cherished the company of his long-time beloved partner, Sharon Rivers, who shared his passion for family and nature, and of course his loyal Golden Retriever, Bo.
Paul Kevin King was a man of honor, intelligence, bravery, and love. His strength, both mental and physical, resonates through the family and friends he leaves behind. His spirit lives on in his love for children, animals, and the beautiful memories he created for those around him.
To honor Paul, his family encourages loved ones to appreciate the beauty of nature, the warmth of family, and life’s simple pleasures – hallmarks of Paul’s own life. Though we have lost him, Paul’s memory endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Services to honor, remember, and celebrate Paul Kevin King will be held on Saturday, August 12th from 10 am to 12 pm at Chesmore Funeral Home, located at 854 Washington St. Holliston, MA www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com The interment of ashes will follow at St Mary’s Cemetery in Holliston. Following the interment, close family and friends are invited to a private gathering to share food and memories, continuing the celebration of Paul’s life at 143 Winthrop St. Holliston.
