The staff and volunteers of the Holliston Senior Center are making it possible for some traditional events to return indoors. This Monday, the Center hosted the annual Thanksgiving luncheon with COVID precautions maintained.
Below, Senior Center Director Lisa Borchetta welcomed the 60 (about 1/2 the pre-COVID capacity) diners and reminded all that mask wearing was required while not actively eating / drinking.
Diners arrived to find place settings and cards made by Holliston school children and goody bags from the Senior Center Staff. The ever-present volunteers served beverages and individual appetizers while the guests enjoyed a musical trip down memory lane with singer Tommy Rull.
No event happens without the Senior Center volunteers. Amazingly four regulars were captured not moving / serving the guests. Below (L-R) Kathy Loring, Nancy Ranieri, Ruth Gaudreau, and Jane Derrick.
Even everyone’s favorite part of a senior center luncheon – door prizes. A winner at each table got to take home the lovely centerpiece – easy peasy.
One other COVID-related change was that the chef / volunteers / staff arranged for those seniors who were on the wait list to sign up for the turkey luncheon to go (made famous in COVID times as “Drive-by” meals).
Life is different and now we have reason to share thankfulness with our friends at the Senior Center!
