Thanksgiving Baskets for the Food Pantry

Holliston Reporter

From Debbie Colburn

Fall is in the air so it is time to look forward to helping families have a very Happy Thanksgiving.  Last year Holliston Newcomers & Neighbors assembled and delivered over 150 Thanksgiving Baskets for the Holliston Pantry Shelf and other local organizations. Thanks to all the generous donations, the baskets included all the fixings needed to put together a fantastic holiday meal including canned & fresh vegetables, coffee & tea, mixes for breads & brownies, a fresh pie, and a gift certificate to buy a turkey!  HNN makes this possible by organizing the content donations, produce purchase, and assembly of the baskets.

Many thanks to the local organizations and companies that have already committed to doing their part!  Boston International will donate the napkins, and the Holliston Historical Society will again give us the use of the Barn for the week of the basket assembly.  Plus, many organizations have offered to collect the needed non-perishables within their groups as well as be drop-off locations.

Even with all of this support, we still need your help to satisfy all the needs of our community. You can support our efforts through monetary & non-perishable item donations by either shopping during our food drive at Shaw’s in Ashland on Saturday, Nov 2nd or dropping off at one of our many locations. All donations large and small go a long way!

For monetary donations, please visit the HNN Thanksgiving Baskets webpage http://www.hollistonnewcomers.org/thanksgiving-baskets or if you would prefer to mail your donation, please send a check made out to Holliston Newcomers & Neighbors to Katrine Giroux, 147 Mohawk Path, Holliston and note that it is for Thanksgiving Baskets. For non-perishable item donations, here is the list of items we will be collecting and the drop-off locations.  Drop-off deadline is Sunday, Nov 17th to allow time to get our final count and purchase where needed before assembly day.
