HDAAC is a community-focused organization whose mission is to enhance the overall wellness of our community, particularly for our youth. They aim to be a valuable resource for parents and caregivers, assisting in navigating various aspects of youth development and wellness.
Your participation in this survey will help shape their programs and initiatives to better address the needs of our community. The information collected will guide the allocation of Drug Free Community (FDC) grant funds and opioid abatement money towards free community informational events and activities, ensuring they support you as effectively as possible.
The last time this type of survey was conducted was back in early March of 2020, where they collected over 200 responses. Here are some of the result highlights from that survey that HDAAC plan to compare this year’s results to:
Back in 2020, Holliston parents/guardians reported…
- Their children felt most worried and stressed about school and peer-related issues.
- Feeling most concerned about their child’s mental health.
- 88% of them felt somewhat or very concerned about e-cigarette use (nicotine vaping or ‘Juuling’), vaping THC and alcohol use among youth.
- 44% of them indicated their child had mentioned a teacher or other trusted adult in whom they could confide during the prior 12 months.
- 94% of them said they knew what to say to their child about avoiding tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.
- About 50% of them said that if they suspected their child was using tobacco, alcohol and other drugs, they would know where to find help.
All responses are confidential and anonymous. The survey should be taken by any parent/guardian with a child 5-21 living or going to school in Holliston. It should take about 10 minutes to complete. Thank you for taking the time. For any questions or concerns, please contact Zoe Moreau, Coalition Coordinator, at moreauz@holliston.k12.ma.us or call 508-429-0620 ext. 3.
