Upcoming Programs co-sponsored by the Historical Society & The Library

The Friends of the Holliston Public Library and the Holliston Historical Society are pleased to welcome Bonnie Cochran and Fred Springer who will present a flute and guitar concert on Saturday, November 16th from 7:00-8:00 PM on the main floor of the Library.  The concert is free and all are welcome to attend.   There will be time for socializing and refreshments beginning at 6:30 PM.  This program is supported in part by a grant from the Holliston Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Flutist and composer Bonnie Cochran was inspired to compose a piece, Artifact, after a walk in Phipps Tunnel on Holliston’s Rail Trail.  In Ms. Cochran’s words, “What ignites the universal desire to create? And what does music or art evoke in us?  Explore how music can connect us to time, place and past moments as if notes themselves carry memories and emotions. Flutist Bonnie Cochran and Guitarist Fred Springer will perform Reynaldo Hahn’s The Hour of Dreaming, Shafer Mahoney’s Shining River, Nicola Porpora’s Alto Giove and the world premiere of Bonnie Cochran’s Artifact, which was inspired by a walk through Holliston’s Phipps Tunnel and a soundscape recorded in the tunnel.”

We hope you will join us to hear this special concert!
