Veterans Community Remember Pearl Harbor Attack

Members of Holliston’s veteran community led by the American Legion Post #47 and VFW Post 8507 assembled at town hall Saturday morning to commemorate the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor 83 years ago. President Franklin D. Roosevelt would deem the attack on December 7th, 1941 “as “a date which will live in infamy”

Under brisk skies VFW Chaplain Ron Turcotte led those assembled in prayer. Past Legion Commander Steve Bradford led the group in singing the first verse of the Navy Hymn. The flag was lowered to half staff, a rifle salute fired and  Joe Cibotti sounded taps.

2,393 were killed on this fateful day and 1,178 wounded.

Legion members will hold their regular monthly meeting on December 12th at 7pm at VFW headquarters, 310 Woodland St. and take part in the “Wreaths Across America” program at Lake Grove Cemetery on December 14th at noon.
