Cradles to Crayons (C2C) is a non-profit service organization providing children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school, and at play. C2C has factories in three locations: Massachusetts, Chicago, and Philadelphia. As a part of C2C’s Teen Leadership Corps, we are grateful for the opportunity to lead a Clothing Drive to benefit the greater community. The drives that we run, collectively make a significant impact on the lives of thousands of families and children. We are writing to request your support for us and our cause.
Here are some facts about clothing insecurity:
- Did you know that more than 1 in 3 Massachusetts children, 12 years old and younger, live in low-income or homeless situations?
- 2 in 5 American kids are unable to adequately dress themselves every day
- “Lack of clothing” accounts for three of the top ten reasons kids miss school
- According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Philadelphia has the highest poverty rate among the nation’s ten largest cities. 3 in 5 Philadelphian children live in poverty and 1 in 2 children in Chicago live in low-income and homeless situations
With temperatures rising, children need summer clothes that would make them feel comfortable. Without adequate and appropriate clothing, children face unfair barriers and live life on an unequal playing field. Let us join together and make a difference in their lives. Please donate new or gently used clothing including t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, and summer dresses ranging from infant to adult medium sizes. C2C only accepts new underwear and socks.
Donations can be dropped off at the following locations from July 20th to August 5th during business hours:
- Holliston Senior Center
- Next Generation Martial Arts
- Holliston Public Library
- Coffee Haven
