From summer league sports being canceled to Holliston High School fields reopening, there were many ups and downs for athletes during this corona-vacation. So much is still unknown. I checked in with my fellow upcoming senior athletes to see what they have been doing while preparing for their potential upcoming season.

Tomorrow (Saturday, August 1st), the statewide travel order goes into effect in Massachusetts. This travel order seeks to prevent interstate spread of COVID-19 by requiring common-sense safety measures of those traveling to the Commonwealth from states that are not considered low-risk by DPH-approved data.

At sunrise, Carrie Marsh Loscocco can be found brandishing her scythe among her rows of fragrant flowers. Only a handful of plants can fare well through our cold New England winters. These hardy variants include edible-English lavender and floral-French lavender. Both kinds are hand-reared on the Broad Hill Lavender Farm.

As you may have noticed from recent newsletters, Massachusetts has experienced a small but noticeable uptick in our COVID-19 public health metrics in recent weeks. This week, our positive case rate ticked back up to 2% for the first time since June, and hospitalization numbers, while still declining overall, have continued to fluctuate.
