  3. Selected SolSystems as the winning bid to develop a solar array at the Marshall Street landfill.

  5. Applied for and was awarded a Signs and Lines grant for $6,000 from Safe Routes to School. The work will be to design and build a new crosswalk and sidewalk connecting the Rail Trail to the Woodland Street school campus.
  6. Selected a licensed site professional to further determine the level and type of contamination at the 9 Green Street site before requesting public input on best use of the space
  7. Accepted the resignation of our Town Administrator, Jeff Ritter. Mr. Ritter’s last day will be July 12, 2020. We are grateful for his dedicated service to the Town of Holliston, since 2015.

What are issues you are presently working to complete?

  1. Reviewing the budgets of departments and committees that report to the Select Board.
  2. Interviewing candidates for the Facilities Manager position. We received 14 candidates that were narrowed down to 5 by a sub-committee. We are in the process of selecting among the strongest candidates through interviews conducted in open public meetings.
  3. Planning a tri-board meeting with the Finance Committee and School Committee to begin laying the groundwork for a set of fiscally appropriate priorities and future development of a Strategic Plan.
  4. Continuing to review amendments to the Solid Waste and Recycling contract, for possible inclusion of small businesses and condominiums on the public ways.
  5. Continuing to review proposals for composting and textile recycling services for residents.
  6. Discussing opportunities to improve the Holliston Public Library with the Board of Library Trustees.
  7. Determining the operation and priorities of the Traffic Advisory Committee, including a possible mini-presentation at Town Meeting to highlight important community goals.

What do you foresee in the months ahead?

  1. Preparing the warrant for Town Meeting and working through the liaison network, among boards and committees, to improve collaboration ahead of Town Meeting.
  2. Applying for technical assistance through Tier II of the Complete Streets program.
  3. Discussion of a Statement of Interest for the Massachusetts School Building Authority application.
  4. Initiating a search for a new Town Administrator.
  5. Holding public meeting to hear community ideas for 9 Green Street.
  6. Developing Holliston’s Climate Action Plan.
