From the Publishers: We are pleased to publish another poem from the pen of Walter McClennen for our readers’ enjoyment. Walter tells us that he recently created the poem for his Brooklyn grandson, who at the age of one year will not be reading it, but who will enjoy it in the future.
In Walter’s note to us, he shared these thoughts:
“The past two years have been very difficult for all of us in Our nation and in the world…But the attached poem is about seeing joy and hope despite the persistent clouds of darkness.
Children, grandchildren and community serve to sustain us and help us all to look forward with hope. To my way of thinking, Brooklyn and Holliston are not all that different when you get down to the fundamentals. Come to think of it, we in Holliston also have “the water” and “the mighty bridge of stone!”
Love it when the poet of Mudville puts pen to paper!
A warm and encouraging message to the future.
Too much the concentration on dangers we all face…
Without response.
The yes voice must be heard in spite of danger.
It is not appropriate to raise our hands in despair
When there is an answer to be found.
Walter, this is a magnificent poem with depth spelling out hope. I love your images in words matched by Calebs equally magnificent photos, each enhancing the other. I don’t have poetry wring in me but really appreciate yours. I also wish I had your hope for the future. Thanks for sharing.
