July 13 Coronavirus Update
I hope you had a safe and restful weekend. Today, July 13th, the City of Boston has joined the rest of the state in entering our Phase 3 of reopening, which includes updated guidance on gatherings, expanded operation of some indoor-oriented businesses, and adjustments to outdoor recreational activity safety standards.
Many of you are likely anxious about the news from around the country of increasing positive case numbers in several states. As case numbers continue to climb elsewhere, here in Massachusetts strong compliance with safety guidance and positive health trends mean we are increasingly able to safely operate businesses and engage in social activities. To continue these positive trends here at home, social distancing and mask use when social distancing is not possible remain essential.
Ideally, we should all take advantage of summer weather to prioritize outdoor-focused activities where you can safely remain 6 feet apart from those who do not live with you. If you are not able to stay socially-distant, covering your mouth and nose with a mask or cloth face covering that fits snugly is essential to keeping yourself, your loved ones, and your neighbors safe. As always, if you believe you may be sick, please check your symptoms and contact your health care provider. If you have concerns about the safety of a workplace, you can submit a report to the state Attorney General’s Office.
