Dorothy “Dotty” Ann Mahoney, 91, of Holliston, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Born in Mission Hill, Boston, she was the daughter of the late Bertha (Matthews) and Sarino Cannata. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Mahoney Sr. for 62 years.
Dotty was thoughtful, generous, and endlessly resourceful. She never sought the spotlight, but her kind spirit, generosity, and easy laugh touched so many people throughout her life.
She is survived by her five children: Thomas Mahoney Jr., Gary Mahoney, Joseph Mahoney and his wife, Eunice, Janice Dunne and her husband, James, and Karen Lyon and her husband, Eric. She also leaves her grandsons, Shane Mahoney, Thomas Lyon and his wife, Alexandra, Joseph Lyon, Sean and Robert Dunne, and Mathew and Patrick Mahoney. She was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony, John, and Robert Cannata.
For the past four years, Dotty has enjoyed her home at The Residence at Valley Farm in Ashland, where she has been well cared for by the warm and wonderful staff.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com 854 Washington St. A graveside service for family and close friends will take place on Wednesday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Holliston.
