Important Site Visit & Public Forum

Where: Meet at Pinecrest Golf Course Upper Parking Lot with Select Board, town officials and the consulting firm Weston & Sampson.
When: March 20, 2025 Thursday 5:30 p.m.
Meeting at Pinecrest Community Garden (Upper Parking Lot) with consultant Weston and Sampson.

There will be a Public Forum to gather feedback on a potential DPW site. Walking shoes are recommended for the walking to tour along the footpaths.

The town is looking to build the DPW and Water departments in the Chamberlain/Prentice/Burnap Street location after it was determined that the Cross Street location was taking too long in court. This has been brought up at several Select Board meetings and the board has offered to meet with the town to help increase knowledge of the planned proposal, and also to hear concerns from residents. The final decision is between building at this new location, or rebuilding the facilities at their existing locations.

There has been a number of residents that are concerned with the location of an industrial facility being built into a neighborhood setting on pristine wooded land. The impact to the wetlands, brook, and varies species is a concern. This proposed site will also impact the Pinecrest Community Gardens, and people using the Pinecrest driving range. The site is very close to a local business, and entrances and exits will abut housing. The 6-8 acres that would be directly impacted are outlined on the attached map.

The Select Board is holding a site visit to walk the proposed Prentice area location, followed by a public forum to discuss the project, on Thursday, March 20 at 5:30 pm. The event will include Town staff, members of the Select Board, and the Town’s project consultants Weston & Sampson, who will be available to answer questions and provide project details.

Please attend and learn about the building, cost, and proposed sites. This will be your last chance to ask questions and raise concerns and solutions prior to the town meeting.
