Jean T. Wittman, 92, of Sherborn, passed away unexpectedly at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Born in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Anna (Baker) and George LeBlanc. She was the wife of 45 years to John Henry Wittman of Buffalo, NY.
Jean was the “most senior” graduate of Harvard University when she earned her Undergraduate Degree at age 52, and later earned her Masters from Emerson College. She was a mother and an entrepreneur, starting 5 different small businesses in her lifetime. Jean enjoyed all water sports, including sailing, floating, jet skiing and water-skiing at the Leblanc family cottages in Haliburton, Ontario. She was a Life Master bridge player. Often described as “the life of the party,” she loved to travel, dance, spend time with her family, and play board games.
Jean is survived by her six children, Michael Wittman and his wife, Beth of Hopkinton, Victoria Wittman and her husband, John Bomba of Boylston, Teresa Buckley of Chatham, Rebecca Wittman of Holliston, Kevin Wittman of Northborough and Patricia Kreis and her husband, Bruce of St. Augustine, FL. She also leaves behind her siblings, Yvonne Spencer and her husband, Ed of Perth, Ontario, Canada and Bob LeBlanc and his wife, Annette of Ontario, Canada; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is predeceased by her siblings, Howard, Gerald, Joseph, Alice, Marjorie, Arthur, John and William.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com. A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 21st at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
