The Holliston Lions Club on Saturday morning put the Grinch of COVID-19 in his rightful place by bringing festive holiday lights to downtown Holliston. The program called “LightUp Holliston” is in its 3rd year of rejuvenating the seasonal light displays which had fallen on leaner times several years before.
According to Lion Ed Daniels, the man behind the yearly push to make the downtown attractive, several new features will be added to this year’s display. The trees in front of the library will have lights this year, with the loan of a bucket truck. Also new, is the lighting of a tree in front of Mt. Hollis Masonic Lodge, with the help of local Masons.
While Daniel’s group would like to add more illuminated snowflakes to the poles downtown, he noted that there are not enough electrical connections to make this happen. The “LightUp Holliston” program is looking to extend lighting towards East Holliston in the future as Daniels has already eyed the guard rails near Linden Street for possible inclusion in the group’s endeavors.
