The State University of New York, Stony Brook Southampton, announced Ryan Cahill, a Holliston resident and recent graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, is a finalist for the 2020 Stony Brook Short Fiction Prize for his story “That Summer We Were Boys.” This year, Susan Minotserved as the judge for the contest, which received more than 300 submissions.
Now in its 30th year, the Stony Brook Short Fiction Prize awards $1000 dollars for a story written by an undergraduate. The winning short story is also automatically considered for publication in The Southampton Review, the literary journal published by the Stony Brook Southampton MFA program in Writing and Literature.
The contest is open to undergraduates enrolled full time in United States and Canadian universities and colleges for the academic year. Submissions will open for the 2020 Stony Brook Short Fiction Prize on March 1, 2021.
