State Representative Carolyn Dykema spoke to the crowd gathered on Hopkinton Common for the 8th Middlesex District’s Women’s March on Sat., Oct. 17.

Following an Executive Session addressing collective bargaining strategies with the Holliston Federation of Teachers and with non-union personnel, Chair Stacey Raffi began the remote open session of the School Committee (SC) at 8:09 PM, October 15. Members of the SC addressed the remote audience with several points of interest.

About 100 voters cast ballots on Saturday, the first day of in-person early voting in Holliston. Town Clerk, Liz Greendale, her staff, and volunteers ensured that the polling place was safe and secure.

Before you know it, the holidays will be upon us, and I have already begun to receive questions about anticipated planning for Thanksgiving celebration and travel. While I expect that the administration will provide more specific guidance in coming weeks, I did want to highlight some recent changes to our state’s travel order that may be of interest.

As the weather cools down and the days get shorter, the unfortunate reality is that most public health experts expect our Commonwealth and the country to experience an increase in COVID-19 cases as we move into the fall and winter absence the introduction of a vaccine or effective treatment.

The Town is hiring a temporary part-time School Crossing Guard for the new crosswalk on Woodland St. that connects the Rail Trail to the schools.

A busy week was made even more so for HFD with last Wednesday’s bursts of wind. Holliston’s Bravest were out all around Town tending to downed trees / wires.
