COVID-19: October 19, 2020 Update from Representative Dykema

This evening, you may receive or may have already received a Wireless Emergency Alert via the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). This alert will be sent between 5 and 10pm today to all cell phones in areas around several persistently high-risk communities. Although our towns are not among those being notified, it is likely that residents in communities near Worcester and Framingham will receive alerts as well.

New Installations Thanks to Friends of Holliston Trails

Holliston Rail Trail has some awesome friends. While the pandemic slowed the Friends of Holliston Trails (FOHT) down this past spring, they are busy this fall bringing more amenities to trail users. They have purchased and installed equipment for three exercise stations with money received from two sponsors.

School Committee Met Thursday Evening

Following an Executive Session addressing collective bargaining strategies with the Holliston Federation of Teachers and with non-union personnel, Chair Stacey Raffi began the remote open session of the School Committee (SC) at 8:09 PM, October 15. Members of the SC addressed the remote audience with several points of interest.

Civics Sunday: Early In-person Voting Has Begun

About 100 voters cast ballots on Saturday, the first day of in-person early voting in Holliston. Town Clerk, Liz Greendale, her staff, and volunteers ensured that the polling place was safe and secure.

Before you know it, the holidays will be upon us, and I have already begun to receive questions about anticipated planning for Thanksgiving celebration and travel. While I expect that the administration will provide more specific guidance in coming weeks, I did want to highlight some recent changes to our state’s travel order that may be of interest.
